My journey in coffee began with no prior knowledge of the craft. Driven by a passion for this valuable crop, I decided to purchase a farm and start cultivating coffee. I began with 5,000 plants, including the Castillo, Geisha, and Bourbon Rosado varieties. My initial sales were handled through the local cooperative.
In 2021, I took a leap and entered the Colombia Tierra de Diversidad coffee competition. To my delight, I won two attributes: "Softness" and "Exotic," and achieved first place in the auction with a record-breaking $48 per pound.
The following year, 2022, was even more successful. I received four attributes: "Softness," "Balance," "Body," and "Exotic." I secured second place in "Softness" and once again achieved first place in the auction with a new record of $78 per pound.
In 2023, I continued to excel, winning several attributes and taking first place in the International Auction.
My family plays a crucial role in this journey. My wife and five children support the daily operations of the farm. My wife manages the cooking and oversees the workers, while two of my children assist with the coffee harvest. Their support is integral to our success.
