My family consists of my husband and me, with whom I had six children. Unfortunately, three of them have passed away. Currently, I am accompanied by my three surviving children and my granddaughter. They all live in our village.
I began cultivating coffee after moving in with my husband. In 1989, we planted our first coffee, choosing the Bourbon Rosado variety. At that time, we used to take the "chapolas" that grew under the trees and plant them directly in the field.
Our initial efforts were successful, and after eight years, we were able to purchase another farm and began to cultivate coffee using more advanced techniques. We chose the Colombia variety for this new venture. As my children grew older, they contributed their labor to the agricultural activities on both farms.
I have participated in several quality competitions, in 2017, 2018, and 2019, and have received notable awards for the quality of my coffee.
Looking ahead, my goals are to continue managing the farm and keep it productive with ongoing renewals. I also hope to improve the access road to the village and the farm and to build a storage facility for my coffee.
