José Camilo Espinosa was born on June 28, 1968, in the municipality of Samaniego, Nariño, into a family with a deep-rooted tradition in coffee cultivation. At the age of 18, he began working the fields alongside his parents, who instilled in him a profound love for coffee farming. When José Camilo turned 22, he inherited a coffee plot from his father and started his own family, which includes his wife and two young children. From the outset, he has been dedicated to implementing good agricultural practices. His commitment to quality has led him to participate twice in coffee tasting competitions. On one occasion, he was a finalist, and in the Tierra de Diversidad quality competition, he achieved top positions, earning recognition for the exceptional quality of the coffee from his estate, La Cordillera. La Cordillera is situated at an elevation of 2,002 meters above sea level, where José Camilo has his coffee house. He manages every aspect of the coffee production process, from beneficiation and drying to storage. On his estate, he cultivates two coffee varieties: Castillo and Colombia. In the medium term, José Camilo plans to expand his coffee-growing area while maintaining high agricultural standards and preserving quality. His goals also include achieving sustainability for his farm and establishing strong commercial links for excellent coffee marketing. Finally, José Camilo extends his gratitude to the National Federation of Coffee Growers and the extension agents for their support of coffee cultivation in the municipality of Samaniego. Their assistance has been instrumental in his journey towards producing outstanding coffee and advancing his family's legacy in the industry.
