My story as a coffee farmer is deeply intertwined with the legacy of my parents, Maria Isabel López and Carlos Julio Díaz, who bravely embarked on the journey of coffee cultivation 35 years ago. With hard work, perseverance, and a shared vision, they established the first plots on our farm, El Naranjal, which has become the heart of our family and a source of pride. Thanks to their tireless efforts, they raised three children, all of whom are now third-generation coffee farmers, contributing to the growth and development of this beautiful tradition. My older brother, Juan Carlos, has his own family and remains committed to coffee, just like my other brother, Sergio Esteban, who, along with his wife, continues our family's coffee legacy. I, Laura Caterine, the youngest of the three, grew up with the aroma of coffee woven into my daily life, sparking a deep love and passion for everything related to this precious crop. This passion led me to study agro-industrial business management, aiming to learn and implement innovative practices on our farm, always focused on improving and adapting to modern times. Beyond preserving our family tradition, my goal is to transform El Naranjal into a farm recognized for its commitment to sustainability and environmental respect. I want our farm to exemplify responsible practices, where our coffee is not only of the highest quality but also reflects our respect for the land. In the medium term, I plan to expand our certifications for fair trade coffee, ensuring that every stage of the process is respectful of the environment and the people involved. Daily work on the farm is a collective effort. My family, my parents, and our collaborators form a team that works together every day to produce high-quality coffee. Without them, it would be impossible to succeed in our coffee production. Our collaborators are the heart of the farm, and their commitment is fundamental to who we are today. As a young coffee farmer, I aspire to position El Naranjal as a pioneering business seeking balance based on three fundamental pillars of sustainability: social, environmental, and economic, always grounded in respect for the land and the people who work it. On this journey, I cannot forget to thank my parents, Isabel and Carlos Julio, who made all of this possible. Without their effort, sacrifice, and love for the land, none of this would have been achievable. I am also deeply grateful to the National Coffee Federation, whose commitment and support have been vital for the growth and development of our farm, enabling us to move forward and face challenges with strength and confidence.
