In the mountains of northern Tolima, in the municipality of Murillo, alongside my brother Aduar, we have forged a path of resilience and passion for coffee. Our story began in traditional agriculture, cultivating potatoes and engaging in livestock farming and muleteering, until in 2011, driven by circumstances and the desire to reinvent ourselves, we delved into the fascinating world of coffee.
Life in Murillo has not been easy. We come from a family of 11 siblings, and in 2002, two of them became victims of the armed conflict. This event forced us to relocate and rethink our future. However, from these hardships, a new opportunity was born. With the support of the extension service from the Líbano Coffee Growers' Committee, we found in coffee a passion that transformed our lives.

Transporting the coffee remains a challenge, as we must carry it on muleback for 2 to 3 hours, depending on the state of the road. But our determination and love for coffee drove us to take a step further. In 2018, we opened our own shop: Café Salinas, becoming the first producers and marketers of coffee in a region traditionally known for paper production. Although we initially faced skepticism, our dedication and commitment have made us pioneers of a transformative change in Murillo.
