My name is Wilson Orlando Janamejoy Carlosama, I am a second-generation coffee grower, and I started cultivating coffee at the age of 18. We belong to the Inga Indigenous community, located in the Central Andes mountain range. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to participate in the Taza de la Excelencia in 2023, where I ranked among the top 40 finalist lots. Later, we participated in “La Mejor Taza de Nariño,” where our lot was auctioned off at an event held in the department.
In our work, we apply ancestral knowledge inherited from Mother Earth, "Pacha Mama," combining it with professional support practices from the National Federation of Coffee Growers' extension service in coffee cultivation. Thanks to this, we have had a significant social impact within our community in various areas. One of the most important achievements has been the creation of jobs for indigenous families. Additionally, non-indigenous people participate in the production, as small coffee crops are also developed in our territory.
