Don Diofan Muñoz Córdoba was born on May 18, 1974, in the municipality of Pitalito, specifically in the corregimiento of Bruselas. He is 50 years old, of which 37 years he has dedicated to coffee farming. In 1987, at the age of 13, he began his life and coffee legacy with a small plot of old coffee trees that his mother gave him after the death of his father. He decided to renew it by planting Caturra variety and 400 trees. In 1998, he met his wife, Mrs. Nidia Isabel Muñoz, mother of his children and right-hand woman in his coffee business. They married in 2001 and formed this beautiful family, which includes two children: Felipe Andrey Muñoz and Anny Leandra Muñoz. In 2006, he was elected as a representative of the municipal coffee growers’ committee of Pitalito, during which time he had the opportunity to look after the interests of the coffee growers in his municipality. In 2007, he joined the CADEFIHUILA cooperative, marking an important step for his coffee business as he found new markets, improved his agronomic management, and strengthened his interest in coffee excellence competitions. This led him to investigate and train in order to improve his techniques, becoming a reference for coffee farming in his municipality. In 2013, he participated in a competition called “El Empresario Cafetero,” where he took first place and was awarded a trip to the United States in 2015 to attend the SCA Fair in Seattle. In 2014, as a member of the cooperative, he was elected as a delegate for four terms, and from 2020 to 2022, he played a very important role in the cooperative’s board of directors. During this time, he had the opportunity to travel to Brazil to learn about the coffee farming practices in that country, acquiring knowledge in the use and management of coffee mills. Currently, Don Diofan continues to train and improve his techniques in the specialty coffee process. He has made the decision to participate in the 10th edition of the National Coffee Quality Contest, "Colombia Land Of Diversity," where his main goal is to take first place and have his coffee and his work recognized nationally and internationally.
