I am Jorge Elías Rojas Vásquez, born in Planadas, Tolima, and a fifth-generation coffee grower. At the age of 12, I took on the work on the family farm after the loss of my father, and over the years, my passion for coffee only grew. At a key moment in my life, I acquired my own farm, La Roca, located at 1,857 meters above sea level. On its 4.5 hectares of production, I cultivate varieties such as Geisha, Bourbon Rosado, Pacamara, and Wush-Wush, taking advantage of the privileged natural surroundings that envelop my farm.
Achievements and Recognitions
My commitment to producing specialty coffees has led me to refine fermentation and drying processes, earning recognition both nationally and internationally:
Winner of the Millennials Contest 2018.
Finalist in Taza de la Excelencia 2020.
First place in the World Coffee Challenge 2023 in Madrid, with my Honey Processed Arabica coffee.
My brand, La Roca State, highlighted in Top Roast and in the Coffee Media roasted coffee competition.
To complement my experience, I have obtained certifications such as Q Processing Level 1 and have participated in events like the II International Workshop on Coffee Quality.
Innovation and International Expansion
I have focused not only on improving my production processes but also on bringing my coffee to new markets. Through a strategic partnership with the company Fresh Farmer, I traveled to China, where I worked on expanding Colombian specialty coffee into the Asian market.
Additionally, I have developed a processing plant with advanced technology, which has allowed me to integrate the entire process, from cultivation to the commercialization of roasted coffee, ensuring a product of the highest quality and added value.
Commitment to Tolima's Coffee Industry
I believe in the power of sharing knowledge, so I offer workshops and consulting at ASOPEP, supporting other coffee growers on their path to excellence.
My goal is to continue innovating and perfecting each process, establishing myself as a reference in Tolima’s coffee industry and taking Colombian coffee to the highest standards of quality worldwide.
